May Is A Memory

Well, May is over and now we begin our summer months here in the mountains. It was a beautiful day today for Gary who is painting our decks. Anyone who has painted decks can appreciate the fact that this is our 4th time in 2 1/2 years to do this chore. Apparently, according to the experts at Home Depot, we were using the wrong paint. We originally used a nice stain which let the woodgrain shine through. Then the next stain painting, it got a little less, and a little less. It seemed to be wearing off in places. So, we were informed that we needed a deck paint which was solid rather than the stain. So with much trepedation, we did the paint with a self sealing undercoat. It is looking good. The color is similar to the stain only not transparent. Hopefully we can skip the painting process for a couple of years.

When we came home from Colorado, my neighbor Chris had made reservations (for free) in Laughlin for the two of us. We stayed at the Aquarius Hotel, had adjoining rooms (with our own bathrooms) and stayed for 2 nights. We were on the go constantly, not wanting any of the time to be wasted. We ate the first night at the Outback and that was great. The next day we were up and out by 9 a.m. Shopping at the Outlet Mall across the street; then a little gambling; a movie; bowled 3 games at the Riverside; dinner at the Mexican Restaurant at the Riverside, more gambling and then bed.

When we got up the next morning to leave, we were thrilled to find that the bridge linking Bullhead City, Az to Laughlin, Nv was reopened. It seems that a big rig hauling new vehicles had lost his brakes while coming from the Calif. side, lost control and hit two other vehicles taking them and himself into the Colorado River. Thank goodness no one was seriously injured, but taking about 10 cars out of the river was time consuming. It had happened around 1:00 pm on Wed. So to not have to head to California, go through Needles to get back to Arizona (which was less than a mile from our hotel) was a big relief. Did some shopping along the way and made it home by dark. It was a much needed relaxing getaway for just us girls.

We are looking forward to Jordyn coming for a couple weeks this summer. Jeff showed an interest for he and Shawna to come visit and Scott and Toni may come with Jordyn to drop her off. Otherwise we will meet halfway. All depends on their schedules, cause we don't have one.

Talked via email with Lisa and she told me she was giving Kym a shower sometime in September, so looking forward to seeing the family then too. UT and AD moved into their new home so we're anxious to check out the new digs.

I'm trying to be better at the blogging, so that's about it for now. Have a wonderful summer everyone.

Wow, this is exciting to see two posts so close together. Thanks for the update. I love Laughlin. All the fun of a mini-Vegas with the beautiful Colorado River in sight. I haven't been for years, but I have only fond memories.
